Cloth diapering and laundry?

Chi Alfero: soak the cloth diapars in a big bucket or container with cold water till you are ready to wash them then wash the diapers by themselfs with cold water and a little bit of soap

Alise Rutgers: Why would you wash something that your child peed/pooped in with NO detergent? That's just sick.

Tory Clapper: Why don't you handwash them? It would save $$ that way. Hang them up in your bathroom to dry or even on the porch.

Codi Manchel: Washing them every four days you will need a LOT more than 24 diapers. 24 is the number you need for EVERY DAY washing. If you want to go 4 days between washes you are going to need approximately 60 diapers. You can pre rinse them in your bathroom. Basically just have a lidded bucket with some soaking agent and water and soak them until you have enough for a load, drain them out and take them down and do a cold wash without any detergent. The soaking agent will do the job of detergent. I'd avoid hot water at all if possi! ble simply because Bumgenius have a reputation for the elastic deteriorating when washed in hot water. My MIL cloth diapered before the sanitising soaking agents became available and she used plain old laundry soap flakes. For the record she has 5 of her grandchildren have been cloth diapered (my two are number 4 and 5 in cloth) and she's frequently washed the diapers of her grandchildren using her old method without there being smell issues. Given I have a couple of 10 year old, hand me down AIO's from my SIL who used this method I can also attest that it's gentle on them as well!...Show more

Kizzy Hett: If you are only doing laundry every 4 days then you will need 48 diapers. (8-10 a day + a couple extra for emergencies). With a coin wash it's not really worth it. You need to use detergent with them or they will get gross. Read the directions for washing that you find on the website. And follow the detergent directions. Some say what works best and what will harm the! diapers....Show more

Alane Antes: I did not say i was w! ashing them without detergent? You are suppose to rinse them in cold water before you wash? To get the poop and pee out pre wash. And when you rinse them your not suppose to use laundry detergent anyways. And after the rinse i said id wash with detergent in hot.... and yes i know how many diapers i need, i amgetting 24 freetime all in ones one size, 6 4.0 all in ones and 6 newborns.

Dorine Nurre: If you are only washing every 4 days, I do hope you have a really well sealed container for them. Babies nappies absolutely STINK after one day, let alone 4 days.
