Kirk Coolbeth: To begin, I would suggest a definition for "living green," as follows: "To live in accordance with nature's laws of healthy competition and respect for all life." Now, for the questions:1) People should live green because the entire community of life will collapse if we carry on as we do today.2) Survival, not just for humans, but for all life on Earth. And evolution. The Earth would be able to develop higher life forms if natural selection (a! s opposed to human-caused extinction) were encouraged once again.3) Considering the alternative, it's worth it.4) It hasn't. There are still more narrow-minded consumerists in the world than there are enlightened human beings.5) Considering my answer to question 2, yeah.6) Opened my eyes, made me fear for the future generations, encouraged me to explore potential avenues for, well, "saving the world."7) When I was 17, Pope John Paul II visited my country and I saw how much solid, liquid and sanitary waste religious gatherings can generate. They're worse than rock concerts. I started picking up litter and reducing my purchase of packaging-heavy products. I can keep going on this thread but I have to work, too.8) Less than 10. Considering how things stood 10 years ago, I think that's a lot.9) You have to want it. And nothing makes you want it more than seeing how bad things can get. So a jolting shocking experience is always useful. Of course, some people have ! tougher stomachs than others.10) Don't use plastic bags. Don! 't buy packaging-heavy products. Walk more. Make your home energy efficient. Start gardening. Compost. Have your own worm bin. Advocate for recycling to be obsolete!11) Helps me sleep better at night.12) See answer to question 2.13) Most of the benefits are long-term, but yeah, walking is good for you and avoiding processed foods does wonders to your health.14) Most people are comfortable and ignorant. We've been raised to think that the world can take all the **** we can give it. So why bother? Also, most people are too concerned about their personal "struggle" to care about what's going on beyond their homes, schools, malls or offices.15) I want a better life. If not for me, at least for the next generations....Show more

Cassondra Vanholland: 1) Why should people live green? It makes good sense-We have 1 life, 1 planet - we owe our future to wise decisions in the present!2) What are the benefits of living green? Health - reducing chemical load on th! e body, family & pets. Peace of mind to demonstrate convictions, appreciation & respect for life. 3) Does it cost a lot to live green? It shouldn't - the commercial system often charge more because conscientious individuals accept the increased price tags to protect. Do home work well enough - It doesn't have more!4) How has living green made your life better? My liver loves me! Freedom of speech when expressing appreciation for life, planet & community. Living in a conscientious way is better than preaching that change! Change starts at home with every personal decision. 5) Do you think living green is a big benefit? Yes - To one tree that remains standing, to wildlife that remain poison free, to every cell of the body that contains a little less toxic chemicals! Our decisions impact on someone or something somewhere! 6) How has living green changed your life? I've learned to respect so many things, the balance of nature, ecological cycles. I am filled awe by the bea! uty & intricacy of all we depend on - It gives me purpose to care & res! pect it. My decision to learn to live a greener life - is not something a passion - I also earn an income by doing what I love. Helping someone or something is truly awesome!7) Since when did you start living green? From my youth when I realized that what I do makes a difference! Ever learning, ever growing in my understanding of how things work - ever learning to respect what has a right to be respected. 8) Do you know a lot of people who live green? Not enough no. I have a commonsense approach to living green, I use what I require but I do so in a conservative fashion. My work involves helping others examine reasons to reconsider what they use in their homes & on their bodies.9) How can you get started living green? One step at a time - learning decisions matter. Being conscious not to take things for granted. Tiny decision makes a difference. It needs to begin somewhere-it grows, expands the more that you learn, the more that you appreciate. 10) What things can y! ou do to live green? Be conscious of waste - power, water, food, fuel. Purchase safer products. Buy concentrated items - less waste. Recycle by being creative & responsible. Walk when convenient & appropriate. Print only what is necessary not out of habit. Plant trees, have a compost bin to feed them. Plant shrubs etc to attract birds, insects. 11) What does living green do for you? Everything - It gives me purpose, it teaches me respect, appreciation, motivates me to learn & value what is so easily taken for granted. It gives me an opportunity to assist others, create an income, helps me feel a measure of satisfaction that I am trying to make a difference rather than expect the world around me to change - I am living that change & making it personal.12) How does living green help your environment and community? I observe the increased bird, insect life - planting & caring for trees, shrubs etc. Reduction in garbage waste by recycling. Concentrated cleaning products! reduce containers in landfills. My work, website, writing hopefully ha! s an impact on the decisions others may make. 13) Is living green a benefit for your health? Reduced chemical load, healthier eating, walking less driving, Personal satisfaction, peace of mind & hope is great for mental, physical & emotional health. 14) Why don’t most people live green? Lack of appreciation, complexity with so called do's & don'ts! The hypocrisy of green product claims. The false sense of security with product availability & confidence that governments, laws etc mean chemicals are fully tested. People wait for big changes rather than see the accumulative effect that a heap of smaller changes can bring. 15) Why did you choose to live green? I love life, it doesn't owe me - I owe it & everything that life depends on. My planet, my body my decisions! Thanks for the opportunity to share thoughts good luck with your assignment - Julie Hodges...Show more
