Is dating actually as it is portrayed in movies and television?

Asa Soho: No it is not...remember it is just a show....and...they try to make it as entertaining as possible...because it is those shows are not a documentary, or self help shows...I am from a small town, but I have been to the city and know people who live there....

Thomas Riner: I do believe that dating in larger cities and college life is a lot more casual than the dating scene in your town. But I think TV and movies make it look way too easy. Miraculously in every bar/party/social gathering theres someone who's obviously single and ready to date you. The fantasy meetings never last more than 10 minutes and the complexities of meeting someone are removed....Show more

Russel Gajate: TV is TV, take it with a grain of salt. Or a clove of garlic.

Hermina Ketring: I think it all depends. I've been on a lot of dates that made me laugh because the entire time I was thinking, "This is like something out of Sex and the City!" I've gone on blind dates that remi! nd me of television shows, and usaully meeting someone in a bar or crowded place in a high volume city (like LA, where I'm from) does tend to be like those TV shows.. However, this is usually more of a going on dates and hooking up kind of thing, not a long term relationship. Usually if people stay together for a long time, there is an initial friendship beforehand. I would say obviously dates are like the TV shows in many cases, otherwise where would they get the ideas?...Show more

Chris Coggins: no its not that easymost people dont trust others that easily or they have been hurt badly b4 so basically what im tryin to say is its hard work just tryin to get a date well for the average guy lookin for a great girl then u got to work hard to maintain the relationship (**** i miss bein in love

Mandy Mustaro: I am from Latin America and I used to think that question a lot in the American culture. I went to visit there a friend for a couple of months and I think what ! you see in the movies/television is very staged, they "gloss o! ver" on the conversations, where they go out, and the plot of the story. It's like a fairy tale...

Lou Ravelo: I have been asking the same question for years...still don't know.Recently, I asked if girl's sleepovers really involved comparing breasts, topless pillowfights, etc. Here's what I found out: enjoy http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200701...

Nicolas Cooley: they are all fake.

Mercedez Trabue: i meet random girls all the time one of my best relationships even though it turned out to be just a friends thing was with a girl i met on an airplane

Barton Sease: i dont know , but wat i know is that box called ''Tv'' is ruining our lifestyle and culture .. !!

Bruno Galasso: TV is for entertainment do you believe life can be solved in 20-30 mins. So no you can meet someone but it will take time to investigate if it's right for you.TV relationships are meant to be comedic or horrifying even half way good. But mainly daydreaming.

Antwan Schrum: Remember these TV shows are not reality, but they may have some truths to them. My advice for you, if you're interested, let the other person know. What better way to establish a friendship before you begin dating?

Doreatha Kjellsen: Well I wouldn't look to television or movies for any real life reference. That's not the way things happen. People are much more complex than a character....and much shyer...lol. So yeah, I doubt that's the way it is.
